Sustainability

Panasonic Avionics Corporation has a long history in caring for the environment and contributing to society. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to deliver lightweight and low-power solutions that help airlines meet their brand and business goals. As a key partner to the world’s leading airlines, we enthusiastically support the industry goal of being net-zero carbon neutral by 2050, set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), as well as our airline customers’ goals to promote sustainability.

To that end, we are committed to Panasonic Corporation’s net-zero carbon emission initiative, known as the global Panasonic GREEN IMPACT, which was announced on January 5, 2022 by Panasonic Corporation in Osaka, Japan. As part of this program, Panasonic Avionics Corporation will develop sustainable impacts in the areas of emissions reductions, new technologies, and energy transformations that will help us reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Panasonic Avionics is Helping to Make Flying Greener

After all, innovation and contributing to society are coded into our DNA. That’s why Panasonic Avionics is continually optimizing hardware and software, as well as our overall operations, to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. We are working on reducing onboard weight, growing predictive maintenance and analytics tools, creating reusable packaging, and using more recycled and recyclable materials.

“Reducing the CO₂ emissions generated by our business activities is our global responsibility. We believe that working together with our airline customers, suppliers, and industry partners to achieve a better life and sustainable future is how we can make a positive and fundamental contribution to society.”

Upgrading Our Infrastructure and Facility Portfolio

Our factories, assembly plants, and other built infrastructure adhere to ISO14001 standards for environmental management. We are perpetually looking at solutions that reduce energy consumption, improve waste management, and streamline our supply chain and digital management systems. Our Panasonic Technical Services crews have begun transitioning to using electric vehicles (EV) to travel between terminals and aircraft. As we carefully consider our global real estate portfolio, we always consider LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified buildings, knowing this will build confidence and trust through global environmentally responsible construction practices.

Giving Back

In addition, to help offset the impact of CO₂ emissions globally, Panasonic Avionics has worked to support reforestation. Our 2021 donation has allowed Panasonic Avionics to contribute to tree planting efforts around the world, give back to the environment, and ultimately create a healthier climate for all in the years to come.

Sustainability Map

Contributing to society and our industry’s sustainability efforts are woven into our company activities. We look forward to continuing our work with airline customers, suppliers, and industry partners as we make strides toward a greener future.
