Panasonic Avionics’ Global Communications Services provides broadband connectivity and live television to both the seatback and passenger devices, as well as mobile phone capabilities including voice, data, text and other GPRS services. Panasonic is also using connectivity to transform an inflight entertainment (IFE) system into a business platform solution that delivers real-time content and applications to help airlines amplify their brand and generate revenue.
With broadband connectivity, airlines can use their inflight entertainment and communications (IFEC) solutions to facilitate better customer relationship management (CRM), resulting in a more personalized experience for the passenger and ultimately, more business value for the airline. Real-time passenger data allows airlines to deliver targeted and intelligent advertising, including services such as hotel and rental car reservations, and live credit card transactions to improve revenue generation through high-value shopping, streaming television, and more.
With broadband connectivity, our Mission Control Center can monitor and troubleshoot problems in real time. Should a problem occur requiring cabin crew attention, the crew would be contacted and guided through a simple recovery routine or in a worse case scenario, the ground crew would be dispatched to the plane upon landing with the correct equipment and exact seat location. Real-time monitoring streamlines maintenance, reduces operational costs and maximizes up-time, ensuring the highest level of passenger satisfaction.
