Test & Integration

At Panasonic Avionics, we work closely with our customers to develop inflight entertainment and communications (IFEC) solutions tailored to meet their needs, and then manage each phase of the process, from design to delivery. All of the hardware, software, system testing, and integration activities are conducted at our state-of-the-art engineering and test facilities in Lake Forest, California, and all of our line replaceable units (LRU) are manufactured at our world-class plant in Osaka, Japan. Our reliability-driven approach ensures that Panasonic inflight entertainment (IFE) systems deliver the highest levels of quality and performance.

Unmatched Testing Facilities

Our in-house engineering and test facilities include the most sophisticated labs and the largest number of functioning racks, which streamlines the development, testing, and qualification processes, and maximizes product development efficiency and effectiveness. We conduct complete end-to-end testing on systems that match each customer’s specific IFEC configuration and aircraft type. Testing includes comprehensive manual and automated tests to verify system design and quality. Even the LRU testers used for production testing in Osaka and component verification in our repair stations, are developed and manufactured in-house.

Higher Reliability Standards

IFE system prequalification testing includes electromagnetic interference (EMI), vibration, electrostatic discharge (ESD) and environmental stress screening (ESS). Our reliability testing utilizes in-house, industry-leading highly accelerated lifecycle testing (HALT) which exceed traditional vibration and thermal test targets, for products that meet a higher quality standard, deliver superior performance, and provide exceptional durability, as well as increased mean time between failures (MTBF), and improved mean time between unscheduled removal (MTBUR).

Interdisciplinary Engineering Test Team

Panasonic’s interdisciplinary teams encompass a comprehensive set of engineering skills, backed by a deep knowledge of IFE systems. Experts in hardware, software, manufacturing engineering, design, and electronics plan and perform reliability tests, conduct failure analysis, and troubleshoot problems, enabling us to quickly identify and resolve any issues early in the development cycle, and implement processes and procedures that eliminate problems at the root cause. This disciplined methodology contributes to improved system performance, helps to identify ways to design exceptional new products, and enhances our test environments.
