In Episode 02 of Beyond Entertainment Andy Masson sits down with Dave Lincoln, President & CEO of Lincoln Technology Solutions and self-described display snob who’s passionate about making the best displays in the world.

Together they dive into the history of screen technology for in-flight entertainment, the best display tech for a variety of applications, and what companies like Apple and Samsung are working on next.

What’s the best technology for IFE? What about automotive or home theaters?

At Panasonic Avionics, we’re clearly biased towards OLED displays for the cabin environment. On the aircraft they’re lighter, thinner, and require less power while producing perfect colors, perfect blacks, and infinite contrast. But don’t just take our word for it, listen to what Dave had to say about the perfect display technology for the cabin.

What about automotive or home theater applications? You’ll have to listen to hear what BMW tasked Lincoln Technology to create.

What’s next in display technology?

According to Dave, micro-LEDs are the next big jump for displays, with Apple and Samsung leading the charge. But we’re still years away from that technology being viable.

Want something now? Flexible OLED displays are the next big thing consumers can get their hands on.
